AmeriCorps Host Sites

AmeriCorps members serve as a valuable member of your staff. They help to expand programs that meet the needs of the people you serve.

Members can assist with:

  • Building program capacity
  • Recruiting volunteers
  • Creating marketing and promotions materials
  • Special projects approved by AmeriCorps Program Director
  • Client interactions, such as tutoring, mentoring and financial literacy training

Placements are available for area nonprofits and schools located in Lake, LaPorte, Porter and Marshall Counties. Member placements are available from September through July. United Way of Porter County site support includes program coordination, workman’s comp, payroll and on-going training.

Sites are required to commit to a full program year and site fee.

On average, the site will pay $4,000 for a member to serve approximately 25 hours a week September to July. United Way and a government grant covers the other 75% of the placement cost. Full-time, partial and part-time placements are available.
