Become a Volunteer
As a volunteer, you’ll provide tax preparation service to taxpayers who do not have the ability to prepare their own tax returns. Some of the volunteer opportunities include being a greeter, a reviewer, a tax preparer and more. Volunteer hours are flexible. Training is free and easy.
Don’t know that much about taxes? Don’t worry — you’ll receive certification training from a certified VITA volunteer or IRS employee. After the completion of the training, you will be an IRS-certified preparer. Online training begins in November and runs through January prior to the new tax season.
The volunteer application is available here. If interested in volunteering at United Way of Porter County in Valparaiso, fill out the application and email it to George Kuebler, VITA Site Supervisor, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 219-464-3583 x128.
United Way of Porter County is one of 15 organizations that make up the Northwest Indiana Asset Building Coalition, which provides VITA program services in Lake, Porter, Pulaski and Starke Counties. For more information about coalition efforts, click here.
If interested in volunteering at a different location, email your application to Teresa Flores, NWICA VITA Coordinator, at email@example.com or call 219-794-1829 x2430.
