Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

This program offers free tax preparation services to taxpayers with an adjusted gross income of $54,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals in local communities. Taxpayers will learn about tax credits for which they may qualify such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.

Tax appointments are available end of January through early April 2018. Please review program guidelines and documents required to prepare your taxes here.

United Way of Porter County is one of 15 organizations that make up the Northwest Indiana Asset Building Coalition, which provides VITA program services in Lake, Porter, Pulaski and Starke Counties.
