The Sports and Entertainment Law Association (SELA) of Valparaiso University recently sponsored a three-on-three charity basketball tournament to benefit the local community. On Friday, Nov. 2, over a dozen teams congregated in the university's Athletic-Recreation Center to face off in the double-elimination tournament, cleverly named "Order on the Court." Each player donated a canned good to United Way of Porter County which will be delivered to the Village Food Pantry in Valparaiso.
In addition, SELA will contribute the monetary proceeds from the tournament, totaling around $200, to the Multicultural Law Student Association's community gift basket project this holiday season. Event coordinator and SELA member, Billy Frederick, had this to say about the tournament: "Sometimes it's tough to find time in the day to do everything you want when you are in graduate/professional school, but the Order on the Court Tournament is a great way to have fun and give back to the community simultaneously."
