The United Way of Porter County is a county-wide effort to address health and human service needs. When you give to the United Way, you support a united and planned way to care for local people in need. The United Way brings together many people; donors, volunteers, businesses, unions and agencies - to work on solutions to urgent problems like domestic violence, homelessness and poverty.
But the United Way does more than raise money! The United Way has served Porter County since 1957 through allocations, communications and marketing, fund-raising, information and referral, community planning and volunteer development.
The United Way of Porter County is people helping people.
With one gift to the United Way, you support a coordinated network of health and human services through local member agencies. Your care reaches out to help strengthen families, prepare children, increase self-sufficiency, provide emergency care, improve health care, help people with disabilities, and assist the elderly.
The United Way of Porter County is local.
Money raised here stays here to help local people who really need your help. Over 99% of your contribution stays in Porter County with less than 1% going to our national and state associations which provide services to help us better serve our community.
The United Way of Porter County is accountable.
A 30 member volunteer local Board of Directors governs your United Way, working to assure that your dollars are well spent. The Allocations and Audit & Financial Review Committees select the programs and agencies to fund and make sure contributions produce results.
