AFL-CIO and United Way Partnership
The AFL-CIO and the United Way have had a partnership in community service for decades. The basic premise of the partnership always has been to improve community life by working cooperatively to ensure everyone has access to the quality health and human services they need and deserve.
Throughout the country nearly 200 union members serve as liaisons between their central labor councils and their local United Way.
Liaisons coordinate volunteer projects, provide strike and lockout support, help the unemployed and work to build community allies in the nonunion community.
