"Reaching Out By Reaching In"
Power of Youth Mission
We are dedicated to improving and creating a positive perspective of youth through performing valuable services that benefit others:
Give, Advocate, Volunteer as Youth Live United.
Power of Youth History
Through the United Way of Porter County Americorps Grant the Power of Youth was created on December 6, 2007. The Power of Youth is a group of high school students that share a passion in community and service. Each High School in Porter County is represented.
What does the Power of Youth offer?
Civic Engagement: Power of Youth members participate and coordinate volunteer opportunities with local agencies for High School Students.
Philanthropy: Power of Youth members learn, from start to finish how to plan a fundraising event. Once completed, members are trained on proposal writing and how to give the money earned away, through a student created allocations process.
Student Development: Power of Youth students are given great networking opportunities with key community leaders, media coverage and validation of service hours.
Who can be a member of the Power of Youth?
Our membership is open to the High School students of Porter County Schools who demonstrate a great sense of community through service and leadership.
