What we do

It is hard to sum up all the things that the United Way of Porter County does to help others.  So here is a list of what we do, in a nutshell, for our community…

Strenthen Families. The United Way works to help people face the challenges that often tear families apart.  Our goal is to nurture healthy, secure relationships between parents and children.

Prepare Children. The United Way works to help children from early childhood through the teen years develop to their fullest potential.  The United Way works to give them the opportunity to grow up in a safe, healthy environment that promotes learning and achievement.

Increase Self-Sufficiency. The United Way works to prevent hunger and homelessness and to help people become more independent by providing access to such opportunities as education, literacy, employment and housing.

Emergency Care. The United Way works to help people respond in emergency situations.

Health Care.  The United Way works to help individuals and families overcome health related problems.

Help People with Disabilities. The United Way works to help people overcome physical and mental challenges to lead active, productive lives.  The United Way also helps to provide support to caregivers.

Assist Elderly People. The United Way works to help people live as independently as possible and continue as active, contributing members of the community.
